Arel Üniversitesi ile Split Üniversitesi arasında imzalanan Erasmus öğrenci-öğretim üyesi değişim programı çerçevesinde 25-29 Nisan 2022 tarihlerinde Hırvatistan’ın Split şehrine gittim.Split Üniversitesi Mesleki Araştırmalar Bölümüne konuk oldum.
Erasmus koordinatörleri Tuba Aktaş ve Mia Vatavuk işbirliği ile organize ettikleri etkinlikte Doç.Dr. Senka Borovak Zekan meslektaşımın Kriz Yönetimi dersine konuk oldum. Liderlik becerileri ve yetkinlikleri alanında dersler verdim.Sayın Zekan meslektaşım ile etkileşimli bir ders yürüttük.Liderlikle ilgili ölçekleri dersimizin öğrencilerine uyguladık.
Gelecekle ilgili umutlu olduğumuzu söylemekle birlikte Ukrayna-Rusya arasındaki savaşın negatif tablo oluşturduğunu ifade ettik. Kazanan ve kaybedenler var ama liderlik açısından Zelenski, Putin ve Biden’ın başarılı liderlik sergileyemediklerini vurguladık. Yugoslavya’nın kurucusu Josip Broz Tito ve Türkiye Cumhuriyetinin kurucusu Büyük Atatürk’ün liderlik özelliklerinden söz ederek, ikisinin varlığında dünyanın daha barışçı olabileceğini ifade ettik.
Liderlikle yöneticiliğin farklı değil aynı ,içiçe kavramlar olduğunu ifade edince meslektaşım sayın Zekan da, öğrenciler de şaşırdılar.Yönetimin işlevlerden birisi liderliktir deyince de hemfikir olduk.Liderlik ölçekleri uyguladık ,Türkiye’deki öğrencilerin liderlik-yöneticilik algılarını da alıp karşılaştırmalı bir yayın üretmeye karar verdik sayın Zekan ile…
Dersimi, “Your present situation is not your final destination, best is yet to come ,be ready”-“Şimdiki durumunuz son durağınız değildir,gelecekte eniyiler gelecektir,hazır olun” diye bitirince de alkış aldığımızı ifade edeyim.
Ders sonrası sohbetimizde Arel Üniversitesi olarak organize edeceğimiz 11-13 Kasım tarihli 2.Örgütlerin Yönetimi Uluslararası Kongresine Split Üniversitesinden öğretim üyelerini de davet ettim.Sayın Zekan ile birlikte 2 öğretim üyesini Bilim Kurulumuza ekledim.Kasım ayında konuğumuz olarak katılacaklar.Sayın Senka Borovac Zekan meslektaşımız 4 çocuk annesi ve başarılı bir öğretim üyesi.Birlikte çalışmalar yapacağız.Saygı değer meslektaşımın evsahipliğine içtenlikle teşekkürler.
Büyüleyici Şehir Split
Doğa herşeyini vermiş Split’e ,bu bağlamda büyüleyici bir şehir,gidip de etkilenmemek mümkün değil.Adete doğanın kutsayıp koruduğu bir şehir.Doğa şehri korumuş ,şehir doğayı değil.Etrafı dağlarla çevrili,4 yanı dağlarla çevriliymiş gibi bir algıya kapılıyorsunuz ,şehirden dağlara bakarken.Ancak çok eskiden Adriyatik’in keskin-öfkeli suları dağların bir kısmına galip gelmiş olacak ki 3 yanı dağlarla ,bir yanı adalardan oluşan deniz ile çevrili bir şehir olmuş Split…
Hırvatistan’ın Dalmaçya Kıyısında yeralan Split antik dönemden izler taşımakta,Roma anıtlarıyla doludur şehir.Kristal berraklığındadır deniz suyu.UNESCO Dünya Mirasında olan Diodetianus Sarayında Saint Domnius Katedrali,Jüpiter Tapınağı ,Peristel Meydanı ,Marko Marulic’in heykeli bulunmaktadır.Game of Thrones’un çekimlerinin bir kısmı bu sarayda çekilmiş.
Dağları,denizleri ,yaylaları ve tepeleri Splitliler değil ,bu doğanın görkemli unsurları Split’i korumuş adeta,korundukça da Split ; tarih biriktirmiş,mitoloji biriktirmiş,körfez biriktirmiş,ada biriktirmiş,uygarlık biriktirmiş,anıtlar biriktirmiş,her uygarlığın zenginlikleri kalmış,meydanlar,kiliseler ,heykeller ve saraylar,kahramanlar,marinalar muazzam bir turizm değerleri oluşturmuşlar.Aziz Nicholas’ a ait 13.yüzyıl eseri kilise mevcuttur.Doğanın kendi sürdürülebilirliği ,sürdürülebilir turizm değerleri oluşturmuş,tüm kuşaklara doğa ile birlikte doğanın adeta koruduğu turizm zenginlikleri miras kalmış,kalıyor ve kalacak.Dağlardan ,adalardan oluşmuş kaleler kalkan olmuş Split’e..Yarımadanın batı ucundaki orman parkının içinden Marjan Hill’e yürüyüş parkuru vardır.
Dinara,St Nicholas Peak,Motokit ,Drid Hill ,Mosor ,Hum ve Biokova dağlarının koruduğu şehirde mimari harika.Şehrin Belediye Sarayının bulunduğu ünlü Psace Meydanında Venedik döneminden kalma mimariye sahip binalar bulunmaktadır.Kılıç ve giysilerin koleksiyonlarını görebileceğiniz Klis kalesi eski kente yürüyüş mesafesindedir.
Tarım ,balıkçılık ,turizm başlıca sektörlerdir.Bacuice ve Jezinac önemli plajlardır.Şahil şeridinde yeralan Riva’da barlar ,restoranlar ve mağazalar vardır.Cafelerden ,restoranlardan denizi,adaları ve dağları seyretmek oldukça güzeldir.Şehir kaliteyi kaliteli hizmetle sununca da biraz pahalıdır.Ancak apart otellerle maliyet düşebilir ,ya da ekonominiz iyiyse “bu güzelliklere bedeldir-değerdir” deyip de geçebilirsiniz.
Özetle ,doğanın ,dağların ,ormanların ,köylerin ,antik dönemlerin,mimarinin ,tarihin cömertçe sergilendiği “Doğa,Tarih ve Sanat Müzesidir Split…”
Dağların yamaçlarına ve eteklerine serpiştirilen köylerin ve kasabaların varlığı nedeniyle kent merkezi eski yapısını korumuş ,yüksek katlı binaların oluşturduğu çarpık yapılar ve görsel kirlilik oluşmamış.Sanayi olmadığından da çevre çok temiz.
Mutlu ve müreffeh insanların yaşadığı Split’te deniz,adalar,dağlar ve anıtlar sürdürülebilir çevreyi temsil ettiğinden bütün bunların neden olduğu turizm penceresi de gelecek kuşak için sürdürülebilir ekonomik kaynak oluşturuyor.Bugüne de geleceğe de mutlulukla bakan Splitlilere selam olsun.
The City Blessed and Protected by Majestic Mountain Ranges and Rows of Islands: Split

I went to Split, Croatia on 25-29 April 2022 within the framework of the Erasmus student-faculty member exchange program signed between Arel University and Split University. I was a guest of the Professional Studies Department of Split University.
In the event organized by Erasmus coordinators Tuba Aktaş and Mia Vatavuk, I was a guest of my colleague’s Associate Professor Senka Borovak Zekan, Crisis Management course. I gave a lecture about leadership and capabilities and we conducted an interactive lesson with my colleague, Mrs. Zekan. We applied the scales related to leadership to the students of our lesson.
While we said that we are hopeful about the future, we expressed that the war between Ukraine and Russia created a negative picture. There are winners and losers, but we emphasized that Zelenski, Putin and Biden could not display successful leadership in terms of management compared to Josip Broz Tito, the founder of Yugoslavia, and Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic. Talking about the leadership qualities of the two, we expressed that the world can be more peaceful in the presence of both.
Both the students and my colleague Mrs. Zekan were surprised when I stated that leadership and management are not different but the same concepts. When he said that one of the functions of management is leadership, we agreed. We applied leadership scales, we decided to produce a comparative publication by taking the leadership-management perceptions of the students in Turkey.
Let me express that when I finished my lesson with the words “Your present situation is not your final destination, best is yet to come, be ready” we received applauses.
In our post-lecture conversation, I also invited faculty members from Split University to the 2nd International Congress on the Management of Organizations, which we will organize as Arel University, on November 11-13. I added 2 faculty members to our Science Board together with Mrs. Zekan. They will attend as our guests in November. Mr. Senka Borovac Zekan is our colleague 4 mother of children and a successful lecturer. We will work together. Sincere thanks to my esteemed colleague for hosting.
The Charming City of Split
Nature has given everything to Split and in this context, it is a fascinating city, it is impossible to go and not be impressed. It is almost a city that nature blesses and protects. Nature has protected the city not the vice versa. However, in the past, the sharp-angry waters of the Adriatic must have won over some of the mountains, so Split became a city surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and a sea consisting of islands on one side…
Located on the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, Split carries traces of ancient times, the city is full of Roman monuments. The sea water is crystal clear. The Diodetian’s Palace, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, include the Saint Domnius Cathedral, the Temple of Jupiter, the Peristel Square, the statue of Marko Marulic. Some parts of the well-known series ‘Game of Thrones’ were taken in this palace.
Not the people of Split, but the splendid elements of this nature preserved its mountains, seas, plateaus and hills. History, mythology, gulfs, islands, civilizations, monuments, the riches of every civilization remained, squares, churches, statues and palaces, heroes, marinas. A 13th century church belonging to St. Nicholas can be seen in the city. Nature’s own sustainability have created sustainable tourism values, inherited from all generations. The wealth of tourism and the nature have remained for all generations and for future generations as well. Castles made up of mountains and islands have become a shield to Split. There is a walking track from the Peninsula’s west end forest park to Marjan Hill.
The architecture is magnificent in the city protected by Dinara, St Nicholas Peak, Motokit, Drid Hill, Mosor, Hum and Biokova mountains. There are buildings with Venetian architecture in the famous Psace Square where the City Hall is located. Klis castle, where you can see the collections of swords and clothes, is within walking distance of the old city.
Agriculture, fishing and tourism are the main sectors. Bacuice and Jezinac are important beaches. There are bars, restaurants and shops in Riva, which is located on the coastline. It is quite nice to watch the sea, islands and mountains from cafes and restaurants. It is a bit expensive when the city offers quality with quality service. With hotels, the cost may decrease, or if your economy is good, you can say “these beauties are worth it – they are worth it”.
In summary, “Split is a Nature, History and Art Museum, where nature, mountains, forests, villages, ancient times, architecture and history are generously exhibited…”
Due to the existence of villages and towns scattered on the slopes and foothills of the mountains, the city center has preserved its old structure, the crooked structures of high-rise buildings and visual pollution have not occurred. The environment is very clean because there is no industry.
Since the sea, islands, mountains and monuments represent a sustainable environment in Split, where happy and prosperous people live, the tourism window caused by all these creates a sustainable economic resource for the next generation. Greetings to all happy people in Split now and in the future.
